This year, PyCon China 2025 will once again team up with the CodeKitchen Community to host a Python-focused Open Source Song at PyCon. Come join us to write code and make friends!
Last year’s event recap: https://codekitchen.community/t/topic/1372
What is "Song of Open Source"?
"Song of Open Source" is a term created by the CodeKitchen Community. You can think of it as an open-source hackathon, but without the heavy “hack” element—it’s more of a gathering where open-source enthusiasts connect, exchange ideas, and collaborate on open-source projects. Through this event, we hope to encourage and help more people contribute to open source, promote project growth, and incubate new ideas.

If you’ve never contributed to open source before, this event might be your very first step. You’ll meet other friends who love programming and open source, talk with open-source maintainers, and maybe even make your first contribution.
Before opening up for all project sign-ups, we’ve already prepared two CodeKitchen Community projects:
- FineWeather: A web photo album built with Vue.js + Python
- APIFlask: A Python web API framework
Project Sign-Up
If you have your own Python open-source project, you are welcome to sign up and participate! As a maintainer, you can showcase your project, attract contributors, and find people who are interested in working with you. Submit your project here:

Remember to bring your laptop if you plan to join the Open Source Song. If carrying one feels too heavy, you’re still very welcome to just drop by and enjoy the vibe! CodeKitchen will also set up a community booth—come say hi! We’ve prepared stickers and small gifts for you.
CodeKitchen x PyCon China Performance
Last year, the CodeKitchen Band, formed just for the conference, performed a short show at the end of the event. This year, we hope even more people will join us! 🎶
If you enjoy singing, play an instrument, or have any other talents, you’re welcome to reach out to @greyli to sign up.
If you’d like to share a short story about your coding journey or organize a coding workshop during the event, feel free to contact @greyli (email: hey@greyli.com).
